Early Morning Devotion
Today's Scripture
Psalm 5:3 (King James Version)
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my
prayer unto thee, and will look up.
Quote from Billy Graham
I can tell you that God is alive because I talked with him this morning.
from "Quiet Moments With God" - Good Morning Lord
There is something extraordinarily special about early morning devotions. Before
the hectic day begins with its noise and numerous distractions, there is usually
a calm that is uncommon to any other time of the day, a peaceful prerequisite
for entering into the prayer closet with Christ. Christ set an example for us
when he rose up early and prayed.
Morning is the first step to the list of "things to do" written out the night
before and to a world of unknown plans prepared by God for us to become
acquainted with. Morning is a wonderfully private time where intimate
conversation and gentle responses can take place between God and His children.
This is a time to listen to the very heart of God.
Oswald Chambers said, "Get an inner chamber in which to pray where no one knows
you are praying, shut the door, and talk to God private and from the heart. Have
no other motive than to know your Father in heaven. It is impossible to conduct
your life as a disciple without definate times of secret prayer."

Today is a great day to have the Lord in ones heart. Even if our
mornings start a bit hectically, and events of the day add strength
to our weary soul, the Lord can be with us... tomorrow there shall
be a new sunshine. |
